People with disabilities and the hotel industry
There are millions of people with disabilities in the USA that is why their needs should be met and satisfied as well as the needs of any other persons. The hotel industry develops according to the definite laws and principles, and the management of hotels follows the concepts presented in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on People with disabilities and the hotel industry specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More According to this act, the needs of people with disabilities should be satisfied in relation to the fixed rules in order to provide the necessary conditions for these persons and follow the principle of the equal access to all the services and accommodations provided by the hotel. The necessity to accommodate people with disabilities along with the other guests should not be discussed as challengeable because there are definite rules and principles following which hotels pro vide the successful accommodation for all the guests. To meet the expectations of the deaf persons, hotels should have certain resources and facilities available. Thus, in the situation when a deaf woman needs to speak with a concierge, it is possible to use the note-taking practice, and the written materials should be provided. The exchange of the written notes is possible when the conversation is simple and relates to the questions of accommodation or providing some service. In this case, the presence of the person speaking ASL is not necessary. Moreover, to respond to the requirements of the deaf person, it is necessary to provide the possibilities for the telephone communications with the help of teletypewriters which have the keyboard and display. This device helps the service staff take calls from the guestsââ¬â¢ rooms. The guests with disabilities feel more comfortable when their rooms are furnished with such telephones and teletypewriters, TV decoders, and special visual safety equipment. These facilities are appropriate for using by deaf guests. However, it is also necessary to meet the needs of the persons who use the motorized wheelchairs or have the service dog. If the special rooms are furnished effectively to satisfy the needs of people with disabilities, these persons can experience difficulties while eating in the hotelsââ¬â¢ restaurants or cafà ©s. For instance, Violet uses the motorized wheelchair and has the service dog. To provide the woman with the high-quality service in the restaurant where there are no free non-booth tables, it is necessary to allow the wheelchairââ¬â¢s moving among the tables, ask politely a person or a pair who sit near the entrance help and occupy any free booth table if it is possible for them.Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? The chairs which prevent the movement of the wheelchair can be moved to free the space. It is stated in the ADA that people with disabilities should be permitted to use service animals that is why the presence of Violetââ¬â¢s service dog in the restaurant is necessary. Other visitors should be informed about such possibilities with the help of the information boards where the ADAââ¬â¢s requirements are presented. The managerââ¬â¢s task is to regulate the situation with the people who are against the presence of animals in the restaurant and draw their attention to the ADAââ¬â¢s requirements (ADA, n.d.). Nevertheless, if the problematic situations related to the issue of accommodating the people with disabilities and their rights can be solved with the help of the effective management and the service staffââ¬â¢s efforts, the issue of hiring the employee with definite disabilities requires the other approaches to solving t he question effectively. For instance, Enrique cannot work at night because of suffering from the bipolar disorder, and he asks to change his night shifts. It is important to note that according to definite regulations, people with bipolar disorder should be allowed to have the flexible schedule, longer breaks, and possibilities for the part-time work. That is why, Enrique can be proposed to develop the part-time work schedule or change with the other employees during their day shifts. The part-time work schedule of Enrique will not influence the schedules of the other employees significantly. However, the changes in shift schedule can affect the employeesââ¬â¢ personal schedules. From this point, it is important to create the positive atmosphere of cooperation among the employees and draw their attention to the fact Enrique can change with the other employees during the day shifts according to their needs. People with bipolar disorders provide the best performance during their h ours of productivity, and the flexible schedule is advantageous not only for them but also for the organization. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, all the people with disabilities should be provided with the equal opportunity to access the necessary services and facilities. In the case of the hotel industry, to accommodate people with disabilities successfully, it is important to have all the necessary aids and devices to meet their needs. The flexibility of the service staff in making the decision about the possibilities of accommodating the persons with disabilities depends on the general provision of all the necessary aids.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on People with disabilities and the hotel industry specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Reference ADA: U.S. Department of Justice, Americans with Disabilities Act. Free Essays on Arts And Science Of Teaching
Teaching: Is it an art, or is it a science? I think that teaching requires both art and science. They both play a role on each other, because if a teacher only demonstrates one of these types of teaching, their classroom will most likely be very boring. Teaching as an art demonstrates ways in which the teacher may use creative ways to present the material so it is fun and interesting for his or her students. Some examples are games, ââ¬Å"hands-onâ⬠activities, and/ or movies relating to the topics being covered. In The First Year, Genevieve DeBose gave disposable cameras to her students for aâ⬠getting to know each otherâ⬠activity. The point of this activity was for her students to be creative and learn about their peers. During this activity Genevieve also learned about her students, like their attitudes toward participating and some of their social skills. She could use what she learned from this activity to help plan her lessons. I agree with Gilbert Highet, who a rgues that in ââ¬Å"The Art of Teaching that successful teaching must be considered an art because it involves two things that cannot be objectively and systematically manipulated: emotions and values.â⬠(Pg 11) I feel emotions play a main role in teaching because the emotion that is being expressed by the teacher will be reflected on his or her students. Although emotions are some main roles, you must also make sure you are teaching the correct values. In order to be a good teacher you must also be flexible. ââ¬Å"Flexibility, which can be thought of as a ââ¬Å"feelâ⬠for doing the right thing at the right time.â⬠(Pg11) An example of this is choosing to use a lecture or a more involved type of activity to present the material. LEVENDARY CAFE ANALYSIS Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words
LEVENDARY CAFE ANALYSIS - Essay Example Thus, she still cannot be considered as a seasoned CEO and still needs to prove her capability and efficacy for the responsibility. She still does not have any experience in establishing international or multinational brand either and while she had worked in a global accounting firm, the industry is way different from Lavendery Cafà © and thereby did not provide her the necessary learning curve for her new job. The rest of the management issues that Lavendery CEO MIA Foster is facing sprouted on this relative inexperience of hers. The most obvious difficulty that Foster is facing is how to manage their China point person, Louis Chen. Chen made a remarkable progress in establishing Lavendery presence in China with only a short period of time. Even Foster admitted that Chen is an asset to the company only that he is difficult to manage. Chen seems non-cooperative with Foster in standardizing its operation according to its parent company in the USA as well as to conform to the companyââ¬â¢s format in financial reporting. Chenââ¬â¢s adamant to respect Fosterââ¬â¢s authority may have been attributed by the fact that he was hired by Lavenderyââ¬â¢s founder Howard Leventhal and not Foster herself. They have several clashes with regard to their business strategy as well as their formats in their financial report. Chen seemed to have ââ¬Å"redesignedâ⬠the concept of Lavendery Cafe in China that infuriated its Chief Concept Officer Lucian Lelerc to the point of asking Mia Foster to stop Chen now. Unlike in the United States where the concept of Lavendery Cafe is uniform and standardized with slight variations to accommodate a specific peculiarity of a regional market (i.e. offering few soup items and more drink options in the South and allowing one or two regional specialties to be added to its core menu where it is listed in its menu items in order of local popularity) Chen seemed to have taken the variation to the extreme with only Pudong and Beijing embassy row that has semblance to its counterpart in the US. Chenââ¬â¢s seeming non-cooperation to make his financial reporting conform with company format that is consistent with the Generally Accepted Accounting Practic e (GAAP) is also a special concern for Foster because this can have implication not only in the operation of their business but will also have legal consequences. The Chinese operation is reflected in the financial statement of Lavendery Cafe which will also be reported in turn to the Securities and Exchange Commission according to GAAP standards. Any deviation from good accounting practices may be penalized by SEC especially in this time of heightened awareness in accounting (Enron aftermath) and this could affect the image and the brand of the company whose repercussions are long-term. This will also incur unnecessary cost and manpower in reconciling the format of financial reports in hiring an external financial analyst. In short, Mia Fosterââ¬â¢s relationship with Louis Chen is problematic to say the least as Chen seemed antagonistic in listening to the directives of the CEO. Their conflict however in this kind of venture that involves multinational entity is not uncommon Chi na due to their clashing culture and values (Tjosvold et al 168). With regard to whose perspective will works in China, it would also debatable to use Foster and Lelerc perspective as a yardstick in determining what is the best approach in gaining foothold in a foreign market considering that both do not have experience in establishing a brand in foreign market. Moreso when Lavendery Cafeââ¬â¢s foreign market presence is only limited to Dubai and China. 2.

The role of the rule of law in the criminal justice process in UK Essay
The role of the rule of law in the criminal justice process in UK - Essay Example In the British Criminal Justice System, divisions like the Crown Prosecution Sector, the police, the law courts and the prisons operate together to bring about criminal justice. In general, the three departments are mutually responsible for the Criminal Justice System (CJS) and its subdivisions. These three consist of (i) The Ministry of Justice, which is concerned with the magistrates' law courts, the Appeals Courts, the Crown Court, the National Offender Management Service, and the Legal Services Commission (ii) The Home Office under whose jurisdiction are the police (iii) The Attorney General's Office which is in charge of the Serious Fraud Department, the Crown Prosecution Service, and the Customs and Revenue Prosecutions Division In ordinary circumstances, it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice to oversee the entire justice procedure (Roberson, Wallace and Stuckey, 2009). It is responsible for justice being meted out from the time when a suspect is apprehended, to t he time they are charged with a crime and incarcerated (if this is the result) (Schmalleger, 2009). The Ministry of Justice also plays a role in a felonââ¬â¢s probation process. The ministry is also expected to provide legal aid, and seek to decrease the chances of re-offending. The Home Office, on the other hand, is responsible for safeguarding the public from instances of crime, terror and other anti-social behaviours. The home office ensures peopleââ¬â¢s safety in order to facilitate investment and peaceful coexistence. It also promotes the acceptable level of tolerance that allows people to live with others from different backgrounds without there being unnecessary problems that come about through misunderstandings. This division is responsible for counter terrorism initiatives, safe policing and overall crime reduction strategies.à The Attorney General, who is usually assisted in handling these responsibilities by the Solicitor General, is the key legal counsel to the B ritish Government (McLeod, 2010). Both the Solicitor General and the Attorney General are responsible for making sure that all citizens uphold the rule of law. à The Attorney General also has additional public interest responsibilities such as committing to objecting to extremely lenient sentences that are given to serious criminals, as well as initiating proceedings in courts concerning the Contempt of Court Act (Zander, 2007). The function of the Criminal Justice System (CJS) is to bring all to justice by convicting and imprisoning the felons while defending the public. It is also in charge of investigating crimes and making sure that the perpetrators are held accountable for their crimes (Packer, 1968). The CJS also carries out other functions such as executing court orders, collecting fines and overseeing custodial as well as community punishment. à The main objectives for the CJS are: à â⬠¢Ã à à à à To enhance their efficiency in bringing crimes and their p erpetrators to justice. à â⬠¢Ã à à à à To boost public confidence in the way the CJS conducts its operations à â⬠¢Ã à à à à To make crime victims feel that their grievances have been satisfactorily addressed by the Police unit as well as the CJS. à â⬠¢Ã à à à à To constantly gather, evaluate, and make use of statistics concerning different ethnicities so as to identify irregularities in the distribution of responsibilities in the CJS. à â⬠¢Ã à à à à To increase the finding of criminal factors so that the public is made aware that criminals will not go unpunished (Sanders and Young, 2000). While not all the members of society are predisposed to crime, such a step will help in discouraging potential criminals. The Basic Concept Underlying the Rule of Law In the 19th and 18th British society, many individuals who belonged to the upper classes were not treated in the same way as the rest of the British citizens. If they committed any crimes, they had special government laws that would be used to judge their cases

Communications Character Conflict Essay Essay Example for Free
Communications Character Conflict Essay Essay ââ¬Å"I canââ¬â¢t believe you, all your gifts, all your powers, and you.. you squander them for your own personal gain. (Hal Stewart) ââ¬ËYes! (Megamind) ââ¬ËNo! Iââ¬â¢m the villain! â⬠this is the main conflict between charactersââ¬â¢ Megamind and Hal Stewart in the hit motion picture Megamind. Megamind defeats the cities beloved super hero ââ¬Å"Metro Manâ⬠, they had been enemies since grade school and Megamind has always been the bad guy causing trouble and Metro Man was always saving the day and the people from the evils of Megeminds treachery. But soon after this deafeat Megamind realizes he misses the way things used to be, there was no more excitement and rush of being the villain in an epic good vs. evil battle. So, Megamind has devised a way that he can give any normal human being all the gifts and powers that Metro Man himself possessed. He settles on a young man named Hal Stewart, a cameraman for a news station, which he filmed the news girl who he claimed to be in love with, but everyone thought she was with Metro Man because he was always saving her. So Megamind gives Hal all the super powers, and gives him a new identity of ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠. However, to Megminds Dismay, Hal starts abusing his powers and begins stealing from banks, and using his powers to get equipment, video games etc.. This is a great example of unproductive conflict. Instead of creating a new evil versus good scenario with Hal or ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠, Hal just commandeers the whole city and puts them all at his mercy. It has many negative impacts the two characters, their relationship, and the situation. The aggression between them and the situation in general becomes increases greatly and turns even hostile because of the flaws in their communication. Megamind has certain qualities about the way he communicates that it often gets him into trouble. In fact pretty much every idea he comes up with in the process, he always seems to get either seriously injured, or suffers in some other way, all because of his communicational handicap. Some of the functions of communication Megamind uses, is he begins a relationship with a character named Hal Stewart to achieve a specific goal premeditated so he could accomplish what he wished to have done. What he wanted done was to turn Hal into a super hero and give him all the powers that the late Metro Man possessed, so that he could resume his role as the villain once again, since he defeated the last super hero he longed for the epic battle of ââ¬Å"Good vs. Evil. â⬠First of all, Hal isnââ¬â¢t the brightest pick to turn someone into a super hero, but Megamind is determined he is the perfect pick after a misunderstood first impression of Hal. Megaminds best friend even shows in many ways, he does not approve of Hal as being the one who has the traits of being a good super hero, most of the ways non verbal. Megamind even changes his own identity as Halââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Space Dadâ⬠, for the purpose of guiding Hal into fulfilling his destiny as the cityââ¬â¢s new found super hero ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠. So Megamind actually is affecting the situation and their relationship as two different important characterââ¬â¢s in Halââ¬â¢s life and will play play big parts in his decisions. Hal Stewart, aka ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠aka ââ¬Å"Cameramanâ⬠, is a very interesting character because of how he expresses his own communicational traits, it is entertaining. His perception of what a ââ¬Å"super heroâ⬠means, and what sort of privileges or advantages he believes comes with being ââ¬Å"Titanâ⬠are affected by the culture he lives in. Some of his expectations, the most important towards the story and the one that makes the most dramatic influence is; the super hero always gets the girl. This thinking of Halââ¬â¢s is a mindlessness perception and also selective perception of how he sees a super hero. Obviously he does not get the girl he claims heââ¬â¢s in love with, because the thing he is mindlessness about is that just because you can fly and have huge muscles doesnââ¬â¢t mean you will always get girl, its about whatââ¬â¢s underneath, not on the surface, which I believe is the lesson ââ¬Å"Lifeâ⬠is trying to teach him. Another misperception he has is what should be accomplished with the incredible new ââ¬Å"giftsâ⬠that he has recently required. Instead of catching bad guys, and making sure justice stands within the city and her people, Hal actually robs banks, and other equipment, video games etc.. nd is determined that the powers mean ââ¬Å"get rich, and get rich quickâ⬠. These are all things that Megamind does not anticipate before hand and turns into being the exact opposite of what he wanted, all because Halââ¬â¢s misunderstanding, and the communicational barriers of Megamind. Although, there isnââ¬â¢t a whole lot of competent communicati on going on with Megamind and Hal, in the end he still gets an incredibly large amount accomplished. The things that were bigger then even his beloved epic good vs. evil battles. He grew in more important ways, he grew as a specimen, and became a happier person, which ultimately should be eternal goal of communication and the functions and steps that are not only necessary and basically impossible to accomplish anything without them, competent or incompetent, things still move forward and things get done. In the end Megamind finds his true purpose and a higher purpose, along the way falling in love and discovering a more meaningful life all thanks to communication, and the culture which helps him perceive and judge.

Comparing the Reaction of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover to t
Comparing the Reaction of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover to the Great Depression The year was 1929. America goes through the biggest national crisis since the American Civil War. They called it the Great Depression. The Stock Market was going down, unemployment was going up, and money was becoming scarce. The United States had to look up to the one person who could lead the country out of this national catastrophe, The President. At this time the man who had that title was none other than Herbert Hoover. Hoover, A republican, hoped that this was all a nightmare, he hoped that the Depression was a small fluke that would fix itself after a short period of time. After seeing that the Depression was getting worse had to use federal relief efforts. At the end of his term a democrat, Franklin Roosevelt, took his place and tried to fulfill his campaign promises by getting the country out of the Depression. At first Hoover opposed any relief efforts, but as the Depression worsened, he started a few farm assistance programs. Hoover hoped that theses farm programs would help the farmersââ¬â¢ situation with the low crop prices. Unfortunately farmers had to come dependent on this government handout. Hoover also started federal work projects such as the Grand Coulee Dam and the Hoover Dam. These projects provided many jobs for people and provided affordable hydroelectric power for people but the Great Depression was a much bigger problem than a few extra job openings could fix. Hoping that raising tariffs could help American business Hoover created the Hawley-Smoot Tarrif. This actually worsened economy and caused lower export rates. One of Hooverââ¬â¢s big mistakes was that he wouldnââ¬â¢t go off the gold standard. Hoov... ...y dismiss the program and start a different program in it place. Hoover on the other hand wanted to wait and think. He wanted to make sure that the programs that he provided money for wouldnââ¬â¢t be a waste and would definitely work. Hoover didnââ¬â¢t want to spend anymore money than he had to. Hoover really didnââ¬â¢t want to raise the national debt no matter what. Roosevelt did whatever it took no matter what the cost. Money was no object to Hoover, as long as he thought that program or agency could have a chance of getting them through the Depression he took a gamble on it and raised the national debt. Hoover made sure that there was enough hard money to back up the paper money in America while Roosevelt played it risky and printed extra money. Hoover and Rooseveltââ¬â¢s policies were extremely dissimilar and they each viewed relief from the Depression very differently.

Weight Of A Nation Consequences
In order to see proper as made the problem needs to be addressed and programs created to benefit the lifestyle f Americans. It was very interesting for me to see how much of an impact the Bugaboos He art Study has had on our nation. It was the only study of its kind that was able to monitor or obesity from young children into their adulthood lives. Some of the statistics that shocked me were: children who are obese are eight times more likely to have heart disease as a n adult 77 percent of children who were obese remained obese as an adult h of society are able to maintain a healthy weight people who come from a lower socioeconomic status have higher obesity rat sees obesity increases asthma rates by 52 percent limited play space for children affects their overall health As I took the time to really think about obesity and what is means to America thought a lot about my family.Growing up we didn't have the greatest socio anomic status. Live that access to fast food just killing lifestyle in our nation. T here was a quote that really liked from the video. Order to make a change, it has to be a co and nation outreach for change. â⬠I couldn't agree more.
